It's hard to imagine all that has happened to bring a city to today. I often tried to think how the Spanish Civil War was played out in the places we were. Last year in Budapest, seeing the sparkling city and then pictures of World War II, it was hard to think possible the transformation. Shanghai was a big city and the Bund somewhat recognizable in these pictures, but so much human history has been played out in these places as the landscape has been transformed ...
