Water freezes, ground cracks,
Don't put strain on the Yang.
Sleep early, rise late,
Be sure to wait for the sunshine.
Keep an intent as though lurking, hiding,
As though it were a private thought,
As though you had succeeded already.
Avoid the cold, stay near the warm,
Don't allow the seeping through the skin
Which lets the ch'i be quickly stolen away.

When your mom told you to put on your jacket or you would catch a cold, you did not know she was quoting ancient Chinese cosmological works.
